UmpSync is for the person a youth league actually hands this job to: the umpire-in-chief, assigner, or board volunteer holding a season of baseball and softball games and a roster of teenagers and adults with wildly different experience levels and availability. If your current system is a spreadsheet, a group text, and your own memory, this replaces all three.
Only the umpires who can actually work the game
Every umpire on your roster carries a rank and their availability. When you fill a plate or base slot, UmpSync only surfaces people who are qualified for that level and free at that time — it won’t let you double-book someone across fields, and you stop chasing people who were never available. Divisions, game types, fields, and per-level pay scales are set up once and reused all season.
When someone drops, coverage restarts itself
The 9 p.m. “can’t make tomorrow” text is where spreadsheets die. In UmpSync, a dropped game reopens automatically to the umpires who are qualified and available for it, they claim it, and you watch the slot fill instead of working the phones. Prefer to review each drop, or handle a particular game personally? Both are a switch, not a workaround.
Auto-Assign drafts the lineup, you approve it
Auto-Assign (beta) drafts a full slate the way you would in your head — weighing rank, availability, and fairness across the crew — and shows you the draft before anything goes out. Accept it, tweak it, or ignore it; nothing is sent until you say so.
Pay records that keep themselves
Every assignment carries its pay rate, so completed games roll into a reviewable, exportable record. At settle-up time you export a clean sheet instead of rebuilding who worked what. (Direct payouts are on the way.)
Easy for your umpires — nothing to install
Umpires get game offers and schedule changes by email and in-app, and they accept or decline from a focused mobile view in the browser. Your league runs at its own umpsync.com address with your logo on it, so umpires see your league, not a generic tool. A mobile app is coming soon.
Bring the season you already have
You don’t retype a season into UmpSync. Bring your existing schedule and roster over — during the Founding Leagues Pilot we do the import with you, and you review everything before it goes live.
What a spreadsheet can’t do
A spreadsheet holds the schedule; it doesn’t work it. It won’t stop a double-booking, notice that the umpire you just penciled in isn’t cleared for Majors, reopen a dropped game to the right people at 9 p.m., or chase down replies. Questions leagues actually ask
Does UmpSync handle both baseball and softball?
Yes. Divisions, game types, fields, and pay scales are all defined by your league, so baseball and softball seasons run side by side in one place.
Can it stop me from assigning someone who isn’t qualified or isn’t free?
That’s the core of it. UmpSync only surfaces umpires who meet the game’s rank requirement and are available at that time, and it blocks double-bookings outright.
What happens when an umpire drops a game?
The slot reopens automatically to qualified, available umpires, who can claim it. You can auto-approve drops or review each one, and you can take any game fully manual when you’d rather handle it yourself.
Do umpires have to install an app?
No. UmpSync runs in the browser on whatever phone they already have — umpires get notified by email and accept or decline from a focused mobile view. A mobile app is coming soon.
